Covid-19 forces INTA to reschedule 2020 Annual Meeting
31 March 2020
The International Trademark Association (INTA) announced today that it will be holding its 2020 Annual Meeting & Leadership Meeting on November 16-20 in Houston, Texas. Registration will open in early June.
The new date and location as well as combining for the first time the Association’s Annual Meeting and Leadership Meeting reflect scheduling changes in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and INTA’s prioritization of the health and safety of registrants, staff, and the community at large.
In video and written messages to the Association’s members and other stakeholders, INTA CEO Etienne Sanz de Acedo noted that despite the challenging times, “It is important to look to the future.”
“I look forward to a meeting of joy, of hope—a meeting where we’ll stand up and keep going as an intellectual property community and as a big IP family,” he said.
Mr. Sanz de Acedo acknowledged that while Houston, like other cities in the United States and around the world, is currently affected by COVID-19, “it is our hope that by November, the situation will be resolved.” INTA will continue to monitor the situation, he said.
INTA’s Annual Meeting is the world’s largest gathering of brand owners and intellectual property professionals. The 2020 Annual Meeting was originally scheduled to take place in Singapore this month.
The Leadership Meeting is for INTA members who are in leadership positions or sit on committees, advisory councils, and project teams; activities will begin on November 15 for those eligible to attend the Leadership Meeting.
