Overview

He is renowned as one of the brightest legal analysts in Korea. He has represented and counseled leading multinational companies and cutting-edge technology companies in various industries such as software, telecommunications, electronics, chemicals, life sciences and entertainment, in connection with patents, trademarks, trade secrets, unfair competition, copyrights and domain names. In addition, he was involved in a number of landmark cases, including the first ‘functional drawing copyright’ lawsuit in the history of Korean jurisprudence.

Drawing from his experiences in M&A transactions, he provides strategic advices on a wide range of intellectual property matters including intellectual property portfolio management, abuse of intellectual property rights issues, establishment and management of non-practicing entity (NPE) and countermeasures against NPEs, intellectual property transactions, and intellectual property financing with a keen awareness of his clients’ corporate objectives.

Having worked closely with many U.S. law firms, he is well versed in IP litigation procedures in the U.S, including ITC actions, and has provided valuable assistance to Korean companies that are not familiar with the US litigation system.

He is also an expert in IP surveillance and border enforcement with an in-depth knowledge of the proceedings before the Korea Trade Commission. He is familiar with the procedures of the Korea Customs Service and has successfully counseled multinational companies on border enforcements against imitations and counterfeits.

He is also a key member of Lee & Ko’s Gaming Practice Group and has a wealth of knowledge and experience on the gaming industry as a whole. He advises many multi-national and domestic gaming companies on a wide range of legal issues, including M&A, regulatory requirements, and IP disputes.
