Tom Tobiason has joined Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe’s Shanghai office, where he will lead the firm’s US-China aand Asia-wide emerging companies practice.
Tobiason represents emerging growth and technology companies, venture capitalists and investment banks in the US and Asia, with clients in a number of growth industries, including cleantech, internet, online gaming, digital media, wireless/mobile, semiconductor and life sciences industries. He moves to Shanghai from the firm’s Silicon Valley, California, office. He has been an Orrick partner since 2005.
Jim Tervo, who heads the firm’s China offices, says Tobiason’s new practice will extend to Vietnam, Korea and Taiwan where, he says, “the rise of technology, internet, telecoms and similar sectors are creating similar exciting opportunities.”
