China Cuts Online Trademark Application Fee

Citing the Ministry of Finance, the Debund Law Firm in Shanghai has reported that China slashed its rates for online patent applications by 20% on October 1.

Under the September 28 Circular on the Charging Standards of Online Trademark Registration and Relevant Issues, released by China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and the Ministry of Finance (MOF), the charge for processing each online trademark registration is Rmb800 (US$117), which is limited to 10 commodities of the same variety. For applications exceeding the limit, says Debund, Rmb80 will be collected on each commodity.
