IPOS announces changes to board

Lawyers from Bird & Bird, Amica join board.

Singapore’s Ministry of Law (MinLaw) has announced board appointment changes at the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS). These appointments took effect from April 1, 2022.

MinLaw has appointed the following new members to the Board of IPOS for a term of two years:

  • Usha Chandradas, co-founder, (Plu)ral Art
  • Edgar Hardless, chief executive officer, Singtel Innov8
  • Susanna Leong, vice provost (masters’ programmes and lifelong education) and dean (School of Continuing and Lifelong Education), National University of Singapore
  • Der Shing Lim, partner and co-founder, AngelCentral
  • Jui Lim, chief executive officer, Singapore Innovate
  • Lorraine Anne Tay, joint managing partner and head of IP, Bird & Bird ATMD
  • Winnie Tham, director, Amica Law

Stanley Lai, partner and head of the IP practice at Allen & Gledhill, will continue as board chair, a position he has held since April 2013.

The following members of the IPOS board stepped down upon the completion of their current term of office on March 31, 2022:

  • Douglas Foo, chairman, Sakae Holdings
  • Kuo-Yi Lim, managing partner, Monk’s Hill Ventures
  • Suresh Sachi, deputy chief executive (corporate) and general counsel, Agency for Science, Technology and Research
  • Kai Chong Tsui, former provost, Singapore University of Social Sciences
  • Audrey Yap, managing partner, Yusarn Audrey

The following members will continue to serve on the board:

  • Nicky Tan, chief executive officer, nTan Corporate Advisory
  • Ali Ijaz Ahmad, co-founder and chief executive officer, Makara Capital Partners
  • Rena Lee, chief executive, Intellectual Property Office of Singapore
  • Calvin Phua, deputy secretary, Ministry of Law
  • Pei-En Tan, divisional director (planning division), Ministry of Education
  • Ted Tan, enterprise fellow, Enterprise Singapore
  • Eric Teo, consultant of business valuation and advisory, Southeast Asia, Savills Singapore; and adjunct associate professor (division of accounting), Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University
