Plant Protection Applications Hit 3,000

Farmers and horticulturists in Korea have filed more than 3,000 applications for intellectual property protection rights for new types of flowers and plants, according to the Korea Seed and Variety Service.
The Service said in a press release that the 3,017 applications include 201 newly developed rice plants, 131 roses and 101 chysanthemums.
Korea has also granted intellectual property protection to 1,197 imported plants as of May 31.
