Tajikistan to Join WIPO in April

The Republic of Tajikistan in Central Asia is expected to join the World Intellectual Property Organization on April, according to media reports.
The government of Tajikistan notified WIPO on January 5, 2009, that the WIPO Copyright Treaty would enter into force in Tajikistan on April 5. A source at the National Patent-Information Center of Tajikistan told the Dushanbe-based Asia-Plus news agency that the treaty would help the country optimise its copyright legislation and help protect Tajik intellectual property abroad.
