Ropes & Gray has announced that Katherine Wang has joined the firm as chief China life sciences advisor in its Shanghai office, where she will focus on serving clients in the life sciences industry and advising on regulatory issues they face in China.
Wang comes to Ropes & Gray from Sidley Austin, where she was resident in the firm’s Shanghai office. She also previously served as legal affairs director for the Asia Pacific region at AstraZeneca and was a management consultant for McKinsey & Company, where she advised companies in the pharmaceutical and technology industries in China.
Wang’s arrival establishes Ropes & Gray’s position as the only international law firm with integrated on-the-ground life sciences regulatory, corporate, intellectual property and litigation capabilities in mainland China. She will advise clients on a range of commercial and regulatory issues, including early stage product discovery, product registration, pricing, reimbursement, clinical studies, GMP compliance, promotional practices, product safety matters, FCPA and other anti-corruption matters. She also will advise investors and businesses on regulatory due diligence matters arising in connection with strategic transactions.
