ATMD, Bird & Bird Enter Global Association
03 December 2012
Singapore’s Alban Tay Mahtani & de Silva and international law firm Bird & Bird have announced that the firms are entering into a global association agreement effective January 1.
The global association will give Bird & Bird a presence in Singapore and will give ATMD’s clients access to Bird & Bird’s 20 global offices. ATMD managing partner Alban Kang will continue in that role in Singapore.
“This is a great deal for our people and our clients as Bird & Bird is a very similar firm to ATMD in terms of culture and approach to business, though on an international scale,” said Kang. “Our clients will benefit from the increased international coverage and wider array of legal skills, while our lawyers will have greater opportunities to work on cross border legal matters with new colleagues across Europe and Asia.”
ATMD’s association with Tay & Partners in Malaysia will continue, with Tay & Partners continuing to operate as an independent firm.
Bird & Bird, which recently added Shanghai to its Asian offices, joining Beijing and Hong Kong, will continue its policy of targeted international expansion, said CEO David Kerr.
