Jungwoo Chang joins cloud-based firm Rimon to open its new office in Seoul
13 July 2021
Jungwoo Chang has joined cloud-based firm Rimon as a corporate partner, as the firm opens a new office in Seoul. Rimon’s Seoul office is its 42nd location, following the opening of new offices in international hubs London, Paris and Montréal earlier this year, as well as several new offices in the United States. Chang joins Rimon from Accelsior Partners, where he was co-founder and managing partner.
Chang represents startups to public companies at all stages of their lifecycles, with a focus on internet and technology companies. He has substantial experience representing both buyers and sellers in M&A transactions, as well as issuers and investors in private company financings. Chang also regularly advises his clients on the general corporate governance and regulatory issues which arise from their business transactions. He has a deep understanding of corporate matters and culture through his unique experiences of working at a conglomerate, a tech-unicorn and advising on the buy-side of deals in Asia.
Chang has significant corporate counsel experience, having served as general counsel to tech unicorn Yellomobile where he oversaw all M&A, corporate, and regulatory work for the company in South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan and the United States. He also has experience as corporate counsel for STIC investments, one of the largest Pan-Asia private equity/venture capital firms in Korea, and LG International, the commodity trading and mining arm of the LG Group.
“We are very excited to announce that we have an office in one of the world’s most important technology centers, Seoul,” said Michael Moradzadeh, CEO and founding partner of Rimon. “The city’s embrace of technology and entrepreneurialism are a great match for our firm culture, helping to serve our clients’ global needs. Jungwoo’s record of excellence and innovation made him the ideal fit for opening this office for Rimon.”
On joining Rimon, Chang said: “The traditional Korean law firm business model was adopted from the U.S. by great pioneers in the 1960s and 1970s. It was considered very innovative at that time. Nowadays, advancement in the technology sector has changed the way we work, but law firms are still a long way behind. I am very excited to join Rimon and change the way we offer legal services here in South Korea. By using cutting edge technologies, Rimon provides efficiency to clients with greater quality of work and wide global reach. In the near future, we look forward to welcoming Korean partners who share the same vision as us to the firm.”
Rimon has 42 offices across five continents. The firm is widely known as being at the vanguard of legal innovation.
