Helen Clarke joins JWS to expand firm’s TMT offering
11 March 2022
Brisbane-based Clarke acts in health, financial services, telecoms sectors.
Independent Australian law firm Johnson Winter & Slattery has grown its technology, media and telecommunications practice, appointing Helen Clarke as a new partner in Brisbane, effective from March 7, 2022. The appointment follows a string of lateral hires as the firm looks to build out its leading TMT practice.
Clarke is a top TMT, data privacy and intellectual property lawyer in Australia; she acts for major private sector and government clients across the health, financial services, telecommunications, education and energy and resources industries. She has a strong focus on digital transformation, technology procurement, data privacy, cyber security and technology-driven transactions.
She joins the firm from Corrs Chambers Westgarth, where she was partner-in-charge for Brisbane and a member of the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Council.
“Australia’s technology sector is booming. Our firm has a very strong reputation in this area, with a particular focus on major technology projects and large tech M&A,” said managing partner Jeremy Davis. “Helen is an extremely well-regarded TMT lawyer. Having her on board will deepen our expertise and support the continued growth of our team.”
Clarke’s appointment follows a number of strategic lateral hires as Johnson Winter & Slattery continues to build out its TMT offering. In February, Jennifer Dean – who specializes in regulatory issues within the TMT space – joined the firm. Special counsel Daniel Thompson joined the firm last year.
