Donald Robertson joins Dentons as competition and economic regulation partner

Donald Robertson, has joined Dentons’ Sydney office as a competition and economic regulation partner in the firm’s intellectual property and technology practice.
Robertson joins the firm as a corporate advisory and dispute resolution lawyer specializing in capital markets and regulatory law, competition law, international contract and commercial law, blockchain and cryptocurrency law and international investment law. He is also heavily involved in mergers and acquisitions, and energy and resources matters.
In a career spanning nearly 30 years, Robertson has advised clients including Visa Inc and the Australian Securities Exchange. He has also advised on numerous regulatory proceedings related to the Australian Securities and Investment Commission, the Australian Competition Consumer Commission and the Reserve Bank of Australia; as well as numerous court and other proceedings.
He has also contributed to teaching and mentoring law students through various academic positions over many years, including his current position as adjunct professor of law at the University of Sydney Law School.
Dentons’ Australia region chair and Australasia CEO Doug Stipanicev said that Robertson’s extensive experience, particularly with his strong focus on financial services regulation, would complement the existing strengths in Dentons’ IPT and banking and finance groups.

Robertson joined Dentons from Herbert Smith Freehills, where he was a partner.
