Bird & Bird promotes Jarrad Parker to special counsel

Bird & Bird has promoted Jarrad Parker, of the firm’s Sydney dispute resolution group, to special counsel. Parker has a special interest in the media and entertainment and technology sectors, but works with clients in a range of industries to manage critical incidents and strategic disputes. He works with clients to manage and resolve existing disputes, as well as to create compliance systems that proactively manage risk.
He has provided pre-publication advice to television, print and radio publishers, and has managed defamation complaints and litigation. He has also appeared in matters regarding contempt of court and statutory restrictions on publication, including suppression orders. In the technology area, he has worked with clients on large and small-scale IT disputes, with a particular focus on software project disputes.
The firm also promoted Sydney-based Bridget Edghill, of its corporate group, to special counsel. Edghill advises on Australian and cross-border corporate transactions, and on complex legal and regulatory issues. She holds a particular focus on participants in the travel and leisure, communications, and media and technology industries.
