Established in 2000, Abdullah & Partners is a full-service firm offering a variety of IP, litigation and dispute resolution services. Managing partner Abdullah Jaradat is a key contact for IP matters.  

Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) is a regional IP firm with its roots in Kuwait and its current headquarters in Jordan. The firm has been involved in revising and drafting important IP laws and regulations in at least half a dozen Arab countries, including the United Arab Emirates. The firm has offices spread across more than 30 predominantly Muslim jurisdictions, as well as in China, India and Russia, each which have their own significant Muslim minority populations.  

In 2008, regional firm Al Tamimi & Company opened its first office in Amman. Ala’a Mohammad Al Bataineh handles intellectual property matters in Amman; he focuses on all aspects of IP, provides general corporate and business law advice and advises on Free Zone areas in Jordan. He has undertaken various litigation cases in the High Court of Justice for clients including Mubadala and Caterpillar, and handles other IP work for Range Rover and Walmart.  

Baianat Intellectual Property has been an IP specialist since 1964; today, the firm handles mostly IP and IP legal services, but does also advise on some matters of corporate and commercial law. Jihad Al Kharouf leads the Amman office; he brings more than 25 years’ experience in the IP field.  

Clout is a regional law firm operating in Jordan, Turkey and the UAE. Although the firm doesn’t have an IP practice, it does operate in IP-adjacent spaces, including in cryptocurrency, for which the firm provides licensing and registration advice and support. It also provides due diligence and investigation services in relation to business relationships. Turki A. Zuraikat is a senior lawyer in the firm’s Jordan office; he has represented regional corporations from various industries in complex litigation in Jordan. 

CWB emerged as a regional IP firm following the merger of Cedar White Bradley, the PETOŠEVIĆ Group and Hahn & Hahn. CWB now provides IP services in the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia and Eastern Europe, managing and protecting IP rights across industries including oil and gas, media, technology, transportation, entertainment, consumer electronics, tobacco, pharmaceuticals, confectionary, FMCG, property development, luxury fashion and cosmetics. The firm is headquartered in Dubai – and most of its heavy hitters are based there, including Cameron Crawford, who heads the firm’s technology, media and entertainment practice. He is a top lawyer who has advised clients across all areas of media and entertainment; he has extensive experience of working with clients in the global content production and distribution sectors and independent filmmakers and is credited for his work on several motion pictures including Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens and Fast & Furious 7. Theuns van de Merwe, who is head of MENA trademarks and chief of MENA operations, is also based in Dubai, while Claudia Berndt, the firm’s head of MENA patents, is based in Pretoria, South Africa. 

Dentons provides a range of legal services, including intellectual property and corporate finance. Office managing partner Ala’ George Musleh, who regularly drafts commercial contracts for intellectual property and franchise arrangements, is based in Amman. Former office managing partner Safwan Moubaydeen has left the firm and is now working independently as a senior legal consultant. Dentons’ Amman office is in association with International Legal Consultants. 

Eversheds Sutherland provides advice on IP, IT, licensing and franchising through its commercial practice group. Managing partner Ghaleb Al Faraj is based in Amman and has leading regional expertise in the commercial and regulatory aspects of a wide range of TMT-related transactions. He also leads the office’s litigation and dispute resolution practice, and provides advice on franchising and distribution. 

Hamzeh M. Abdelhady is managing partner at Hady Law Firm, which is a sister firm to Doha-based Al-Khalifa Law Firm. Abdelhady has experience in IP, commercial audit, corporate assignments and M&A transactions. He worked as general counsel of Qatar Media Services Group where he was responsible drafting and advising on contracts; carrying out regulatory compliance and corporate restructuring exercises; advising on and forming legal strategy and on various transactions, acquisitions, mergers and joint ventures being undertaken by the company; and advising on and undertaking dispute resolution exercises including arbitrations, court proceedings and the like. 

Based in Amman, full-service law firm International Business Legal Associates (IBLAW) was established in 1997 by Salaheddin Al-Bashir. Nancy Dababneh is a partner and head of IP at the firm. She litigates the rights of high-profile clients and has played a major role in shaping the legislative framework for Jordanian intellectual property by drafting, reviewing, proposing, changing, and introducing IP legislation and/or regulations that are compatible with WTO requirements, international agreements and international practices. She has been recognized in several landmark IP judicial decisions and has participated in analyzing the information technology sector in Jordan and provided analysis and recommendations for regulatory reform in this area. She is one of the kingdom’s key IP trainers. 

Doha-based JAH & Co. IP has 12 offices in the Middle East, including in Amman, and is a leader in IP prosecution work in the Middle East and Africa. Clients run the gamut from small companies to Fortune 100 companies. Jaradat Lawyers is a full-service firm founded in 2000; the firm boasts capable practices in IP, TMT and personal data protection, as well as in dispute resolution and litigation. Founder and managing partner Mohammad Jaradat is respected by his peers throughout the region. Prior to founding the firm, he held several judicial posts as a judge and public prosecutor in the Jordanian judiciary and courts. 

Khalifeh & Partners is an Amman-based full-service law firm with specialty practice areas including technology, media and telecommunications and sports and entertainment. The firm has provided legal services to a variety of local and international sports bodies and entertainment companies, including drafting and reviewing relevant laws and contracts, revising foreign law contracts to comply with local law requirements, and providing advice and opinions on regulatory issues.
