Overview

Cherry C.L. Tu is a senior partner of SUNDIAL IP Law Firm and a registered Taiwan patent attorney. She specializes in patent prosecution, patent invalidation, patentability and infringement analysis, prior art searches, IP portfolio management and representation before the Taiwan Intellectual Property and Commercial Court. Her technical expertise covers computer software, mechanical art, industrial design, chip packaging, LCD manufacturing processes and applications of artificial intelligence (AI).

She earned her degree in mathematics from National Taiwan University and has been with SUNDIAL since 2000. Prior to joining the firm, she gained three years of industrial experience as an in-house IP counsel at a high-tech company, which provided her with valuable insights and practical strategies for preparing and prosecuting patent applications.

Tu currently serves as a councilor of the Taiwan Patent Attorneys Association (TWPAA) and a co-chair of the TWPAA’s International Affair Committee, as well as co-chair of the Patent Committee of the APAA Taiwan Group. She previously held the position of deputy secretary general of the TWPAA. In addition, she lectures at Taiwan Intellectual Property Training Academy (TIPA) on patent management practices of application and maintenance, and teaches patent law practice in pre-registration training courses for patent attorneys.

She is also a member of AIPPI Patent Standing Committee and a member of APAA and the Licensing Executives Society International (LESI).
