Overview

Seo-young Lee is head of the chemical, bio and pharmaceutical group at NAM IP Group, specializing in chemicals, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and polymers. She has broad experience in patent prosecution, appeal proceedings, and invalidation actions. 

Lee handles patent term extension applications for pharmaceuticals and pesticides and regularly provides validity and freedom-to-operate (FTO) opinions on vaccine and antibody patents. She also advises international pharmaceutical clients on Green Book listings with the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) and patent linkage regulations. 

Her practice spans diverse technologies including recombinant DNA, microorganisms, adhesives, polymers, semiconductor materials, cosmetics and medical devices. She serves as a patent advisor to the Korean Rural Development Administration and is a member of the MFDS Central Pharmaceutical Affairs Review Committee. 

Lee is a frequent lecturer on Korean patent prosecution and IP litigation, offering deep insights to both domestic and international audiences.
