Overview
Bitika Sharma is a first-generation practicing lawyer with a law degree from Delhi University in 2004. She also holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) from Delhi University in 2001. She was initially engaged in handling complete intellectual property rights prosecution profiles and thereafter expanded her expertise into handling hardcore litigation and contentious work. With her experience of almost 20 years, she has developed a bandwidth for handling patents, trademarks, copyrights, designs, data protection and various correlated issues of intellectual property. Being a science graduate, she is actively involved in upcoming new fields of patent litigation, drugs and insecticides regulatory issues, patent advisory and licensing in India. She regularly appears before all the courts of India as well as before the trademark and patent office.
Sharma has handled various high-profile patent litigations, including, among others, Hoffmann La Roche v. Cipla Ltd. (Erlotinib), the biosimilar regime regulatory and patent dispute (Trastuzumab, Bevacizumab, Pertuzumab), the dispute involving biotech patents of Monsanto (BT Cotton) and FMC Corporation (CTPR), AstraZeneca v. Intas (Dapagliflozin) and Boehringer v. Alkem (Linagliptin) on genus and species patent disputes.
Towards contribution in international conferences, Sharma has been elected as an executive member of AIPPI’s Indian Group, is an active member of APAA and has been regularly participating in and attending INTA. She has been constantly ranked highly in top publications like IAM, MIP, WTR and IP Stars.
She regularly participates as a speaker in conferences in India and abroad, IP workshops and awareness programs organized by CII, ASSOCHAM, TIFAC, Delhi University, etc.
