    Overview

    Nur ‘Azizah Ahmad (Nur) obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom, in 2009. She was called to the Bar of England and Wales by the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple in November 2012. Thereafter, she was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Brunei in December 2013.

     

    Nur is an experienced lawyer specializing in corporate and commercial law, immigration and labour laws, data protection law, technology, media and telecommunication law, intellectual property and banking and finance. Much of Nur’s practice focuses on providing comprehensive legal advice to the firm’s domestic and international corporate on Brunei’s laws and regulatory requirements as well as the handling of registration and renewal of patents and the enforcement of trademarks. In addition to this, Nur’s work has included drafting and/or reviewing contracts to safeguard client’s interests and support their business operations in Brunei.

     

    Aside from practice, Nur is an accredited mediator empaneled with the Brunei Darussalam Arbitration Center, an active member of the Brunei Bar and a Council Member of the ASEAN Intellectual Property Association. She is currently the president of Brunei Law Society where she has previously served as secretary and vice president. As a member of the Law Society Council, Nur has attended and represented the Law Society in discussion groups and stakeholder engagements for matters such as the drafting of the Insolvency Order, 2016 and on proposed mediation legislation and regulatory framework. She has also been invited to speak on intellectual property in Brunei at events hosted by the Brunei Intellectual Property in the past and has contributed articles for the Japan Patent Office’s Global Intellectual Property Database project.
