YangTze Law Has Launched As The UK’s First Wholly Chinese Owned Law Firm

YangTze Law has launched as the UK’s first wholly Chinese owned law firm. The firm is the brainchild of the British-educated, Hong Kong- and Beijing-based lawyer Steve Ng, and Winston Gao, a senior partner at Jun Yan Law Firm in Shenzhen. Malcolm Dickinson, managing partner at UK firm Michelmores, is the managing director. The irm expects most of its work to be for Chinese corporates investing in the UK and Europe, and will including advice on intellectual property, contracts, commercial issues, inance, property, employment and international commercial dispute resolutions, including arbitration and litigation.

Ng divides his time between London and Hong Kong and China, where he is founding partner of Ng & Shum. Gao, who is senior partner at Jun Yan and a registered foreign lawyer at Ng & Shum in Hong Kong, remains based in Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
