Sri Lanka moves to strengthen music industry’s IP laws
10 September 2025
Trade Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe recently chaired a critical meeting with international and local stakeholders to strengthen intellectual property enforcement for Sri Lanka’s music industry.
The meeting, organized in partnership with the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers and the World Intellectual Property Organization, focused on aligning national laws with international standards.
Participants – including members of the All Ceylon Performers and Songwriters League and officials from the National Intellectual Property Office – urged for immediate action. A special committee will now be formed to provide actionable recommendations within three months.
