Sherman Chu, Cisco’s former general counsel in China and head of worldwide technology transactions, has joined DLA Piper as a partner in the firm’s corporate practice in Northern California, resident in the Silicon Valley office.
Chu will focus on China inbound and outbound transactions, as well as technology industry transactions. His time with Cisco provides him experience with technology licensing, intellectual property, complex and cross-border transactions, open source software, cloud, compliance and emerging markets.
“Sherman’s strong technology industry background and transactional experience around the world, particularly in China and Silicon Valley, provide us another opportunity to build our global legal practice,” said Jay Smith, global co-chair of DLA Piper’s corporate practice.
