Samsung Electronics Co Ltd urged a US appeals court on Tuesday to find that a jury in 2014 should not have made Sumsung pay nearly $120 million to Apple Inc for infringing three patents.

Apple's "quick links" patent, which accounts for more than $98 million of the damages award, was the main focus in Samsung's latest effort to overturn major court victories by the US technology company over the past two years.

Apple had originally identified eight primary patents it said Samsung had infringed across at least 17 products, but US courts determined that the country's judicial system didn't have the resources to consider the volumes of evidence involved in such a massive patent infringement case.

Over the past two years, the companies have appeared at the court several times.
