Reed Smith has named former Thelen Reid & Priest IP partner Rauer Meyer to its business and finance group. Meyer will be based in the firm’s Los Angeles office.

At the recently-dissolved Thelen, Meyer’s IP practice included the protection of rights in technology, trademarks, software, copyrights, and trade secrets associated with his transactional practice. He also has broad experience with, and current client matters involving, western companies that need IP protection while doing business in China.

Meyer is one of three lawyers comprising a third wave of Reed Smith attorneys from Thelen, including a renewable energy group and a labour and employment group.
