Ministry to Administer Country’s IP

Malaysia has made the country’s Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry the focal point to administer and manage the government’s intellectual property until commercialisation stage, according to a report from the official Bernama news agency.
Minister Maximus Johnity Ongkili told Bernama that the change would ensure that the target to commercialise 10% of research and development projects under the Ninth Malaysian Plan was achieved. The move is expected to push the commercialisation rate to 30% under the 10th Malaysia Plan, he said, adding that the current rate of 3.4% was low.
