IPOPHL-USPTO Workshop for Criminal Investigators and Public Prosecutors on Special Rules of Procedure for IP Cases and the Manual for IP Investigation

The two-day Workshop for Criminal Investigators and Public Prosecutors on Special Rules of Procedure for IP Cases and the Manual for Intellectual Property (IP) Investigation organized by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) in partnership with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), for investigators from the National Bureau of Investigators, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Customs, Optical Media Board, Food and Drug Administration and prosecutors started June 2, 2014 in Iloilo City at the Amigo Terrace Hotel.
The workshop is in line with one of the strategic goal of IPOPHL “to ensure a speedy and quality disposition of IPR violation cases”, under its Philippine Action Plan on Intellectual Property Rights Protection and Enforcement 2012-2016.
The seminar is designed to acquaint them with the New Rules on IP Litigation as well as the substantive aspects of IP. It also covers the Manual for Investigation and Prosecution of IPR Cases, which provides for a standard procedural guidelines for the law enforcers and prosecutors, to ensure that investigators and prosecutors are properly guided in their enforcement operations, case build up and evidence gathering, and prosecution on IPR cases.
The discussions were led by experts, both foreign and local.
