Eldib & Co. has opened an office in Shanghai, making it the first Egyptian law firm – and reportedly just the third African law firm – to open a branch in China. The firm says that its Shanghai office will serve as its “hub in Asia.”
Eldib & Co., is a global law firm headquartered in Cairo, with eight offices (located in Alexandria, Egypt, and in the countries of Libya Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Sudan, Turkey and, now, China. The firm also says it has more than 60 affiliates in the region to support its clients’ business in regards to a wide variety of legal matters, including intellectual property.
The firm has been serving clients since 1875. The firm offers a wide array of legal services including anti-counterfeit services, arbitration, commercial, copyrights, corporate, criminal, industrial designs, labour and employment, litigation, patents, real estate and property management, trademarks and transport. The firm’s IP department, which launched in 1918, is known as the oldest and strongest IP firm in Egypt; it registered the first trademark in Egypt.
