Chew Phye Keat Is Elected President Of The Malaysian Intellectual Property Association

Chew Phye Keat was elected president of the Malaysian Intellectual Property Association (MIPA) at its recent annual meeting in June 2010. The term is for two years. His focus during this term will be to build the association into a dynamic body actively representing the interests of all IP stakeholders in the country, and committed to doing what's best for the nation in the field of IP, he said at the meeting.
The four key priority areas of the association, which were decided by the incoming Executive Committee, are: (i) the review of all proposed IP legislation amendments; (ii) the holding of an annual IP conference that will stand out as the main IP conference for the country, with the first to be held in the first half of 2011; (iii) constructing a dynamic, interactive and informative website for the association; and (iv) updating the association's constitution to be more current and provide a solid foundation for the association's activities and leadership succession.
