Amy Chung named partner at Deacons in Hong Kong

Amy Chung has been promoted to partner at Deacons in Hong Kong, where she is a member of the firm’s intellectual property team.
Chung is admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong. She is experienced in advising on IP/IT matters, IP transactions, technology transfers, digital solutions development and commercialization, IP issues in initial public offering projects, and other IP general commercial and local law compliance issues across various sectors including consumer goods and retail, fintech, transportation and logistics, and technology, media and telecom, in a wide spectrum of areas such as personal data protection, advertising, internet, domain names, trade descriptions, consumer protection and licensing.
She is also experienced in brand and IP protection and enforcement in Hong Kong, particularly contentious matters involving trademark, passing off, copyright, company names, domain names, trade secrets and breach of confidence.
Prior to her current role, Chung was senior legal counsel (with IP/IT specialization) at one of the largest professional services firms in the world, with considerable experience advising on IP/IT matters, technology ventures, emerging technologies, technology transfers, digital solutions development and commercialization projects, IT procurement, privacy and data protection, and various general commercial/contract matters. She speaks English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
Her promotion is one of four at the firm at the start of 2022. “It gives me great pleasure to welcome Amy to the partnership.
