Baker & McKenzie was the big winner at the 2013 Asia IP Awards October 18 in Hanoi, taking home six separate awards including trademark and copyright awards for international practices. This year’s ceremony marks the first time copyright has been included in the Asia IP Awards.

Also winning multiple awards at the Sheraton Hanoi were King & Wood Mallesons for Australia and China copyright, Hogan Lovells for Hong Kong copyright and Vietnam trademarks, Shearn Delamore & Co for Malaysia patents and trademarks, AJ Park for New Zealand patents and copyright, Angara Abello Concepcion Regala & Cruz for Philippines trademarks and copyright and Tilleke & Gibbins for Thailand trademarks and copyright.

Bird & Bird won the international patents award, and ATMD Bird & Bird won Singapore copyright.

As part of its six awards, Baker & McKenzie also won the China trademark, Hong Kong trademark and Vietnam copyright awards. Hadiputranto, Hadinoto & Partners, Baker & McKenzie’s member firm in Jakarta, won Indonesia trademarks firm.

Award winners were determined by Asia IP’s extensive polling of in-house counsel in Asia and the Pacific, Europe and the Americas. A record 41 firms took home a trophies in 16 jurisdictions and the international category.

“The competition among top intellectual property practices in Asia is fierce,” said Asia IP publisher Darren Barton. “That we are able to recognise so many different practices is a tribute to the breadth and depth of the IP practices in the region.”

A complete list of winners and photos from the event will be published in print and online in the November issue of Asia IP
